Applications

Chemical Injection

Chemical feed and control systems are a vital component in all process water and wastewater treatment applications. Each chemical has its own unique set of challenges that must be taken into consideration in the design, selection and application of the pump systems. No matter what chemicals you are dosing, safety, reliability and precise control are required to optimize the chemical reaction and reduce operating costs.
MXQ Chemical Injection Pump Skids are used for precise control over water quality.
Typical wastewater treatment chemicals:
  • Liquid phase hypochlorite, sulfates/sulfites, corrosion inhibitors, acids, caustics, antiscalants and antifoaming agents
  • Polymers for coagulation, flocculation and sludge thickening
  • Dry substances such as lime, activated carbon, powdered, flaked and pelletized materials

Titanium Dioxide

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is a naturally-occurring chemical found in minerals such as anatase and brookite, and is used in many industries in a variety of applications. They are widely used in paints and varnishes, dyes, cosmetics, food coloring, and more. Titanium oxide is mostly used in a pigment form called titanium white. Although non-flammable, it is extremely abrasive and hence would need the right type of pump. MXQ is a reliable supplier of progressive cavity pumps used for pumping titanium dioxide and other slurries. We have a variety of brands of progressive cavity pumps, such as Moyno, Bornemann, and Netzsch, being supplied to several customers across many industries. Our pumps are of excellent quality and can resist high temperatures and harsh working conditions.

Tall Oil

Tall oil is one of the most commercially important by-products of the paper making process. After the black liquor soap is converted to tall oil, or “liquid rosin”, by a boiling process with sulfuric acid, it becomes a dark brown viscous liquid containing about 95% equal amounts of rosin acids and fatty acids. This liquid requires a heavy duty industrial positive displacement pump capable of handling abrasives, varying pressures and running dry without damage.

Slop Oil

Slop Oil and Sludge Oil is reclaimed petroleum waste mixtures of oil, chemicals and water derived from a wide variety of processes in refineries or oil fields. Slop Oil and Sludge Oil is formed when tank wagons and oil tanks are cleaned or during maintenance work at refineries, or in unforeseen oil accidents.

Paper Stock & Cellulose Pumps

Paper stock and cellulose pumps are essentially used to transfer paper slurries and cellulose fibers or what we call paper stock pumping. Undoubtedly, they have a large application in the paper & pulp, textile, and chemical industries. It is understood that these pumps should not only be sturdy but also capable of transferring semi-solid materials, cellulose fibers, and all that could be present in paper pulps. Progressive cavity pumps work very well in this application area. This is because they require less suction head and exhibit low shear rates. They vary in type and designs depending on the application. MXQ is a trusted supplier of a variety of progressive cavity pumps for the paper and pulp industry, and has a large inventory of spare parts such as stators, rotors, gaskets, and bearings.

Oil Sands

Oil sand is a naturally occurring mixture of sand, clay or other minerals, water and bitumen, which is a heavy and extremely viscous oil that must be treated before it can be used by refineries to produce usable fuels such as gasoline and diesel.

Lime Slurry Pumps

Lime slurry, which is a suspension of calcium hydroxide in water, is one of the most challenging fluids to pump and convey. Lime slurry contains high amounts of solid particles, making it difficult to pump using general utility pumps. Thus, selecting the right pump for lime slurries is critical to pump this mixture of fluid, like water, and a pulverized solid. Ruggedly constructed lime slurry pumps are at your service in such cases. When you opt for these kinds of positive displacement pumps, you can be assured of the non-clogging, pumping action of lime slurries without crushing or tearing the pumping elements. At MXQ, we deliver varied models of progressive cavity pumps, and thus support the customers who handle lime slurries for a variety of industrial, municipal and environmental applications.

Calcium Carbonate Slurry Pumps

Calcium Carbonate Slurry is a difficult type of slurry to pump due to its high percentage of abrasive, fine solids. Hence, there is a huge demand for heavy duty pumps that are designed principally to handle gaseous and low viscosity materials. No matter how abrasive your medium is, specially engineered calcium carbonate slurry pumps are at your service to get the job done optimally. At MXQ, we deliver several models of these types of high performing progressive cavity pumps. These pumps deliver superior performance and long life even after the long-term handling of corrosive slurries such as calcium carbonate.

Black Liquor Soap

Black liquor soap, a by-product of digestion in a kraft mill, tends to display characteristics such as abrasiveness, air entrainment, and a wide range of viscosities, depending upon the temperature of the product. Viscosity control is crucial in order to stabilize black liquor concentrations prior to entrance in the recovery boiler. Black liquor viscosity is affected by solids concentration above 60% which, in turns, impacts: Heat transfer in evaporation units, pumping capacity and spraying characteristics.

Ballast Pumps

Ballast pump systems are a crucial part of the marine industry, and are of various types and designs depending on the application. Marine ballast pumps are one of the most common types of pumps used in the marine industry. These pumps are so named because they take in and discharge out ballast water. Ballast pump systems feature a set of valves, a ballast tank, pipes, and a pump. A ballast tank holds sea water, which is pumped by ballast pumps to maintain the ship’s required balance and stability. MXQ is a trusted supplier of progressive cavity pumps, which can be used as ballast pumps for the marine industry.

Bitumen/Asphalt Transfer Pumps

The petroleum byproduct, bitumen, which is a black, viscous mixture of hydrocarbons, and asphalt, has immense applications in the construction industry. This sticky, semi-solid form of petroleum can be found in natural deposits which are then refined for several purposes. During this refinement process, there are several instances where these highly viscous products must be transported to and fro, which requires specialized pumping equipment. The use of normal pumps would not bring you desired results, but will only result in pump damage including premature mechanical seal failures. At MXQ, we offer bitumen transfer pumps that are made to efficiently handle and transfer bitumen/asphalt. These progressive cavity pumps are known for their efficient performance, operational reliability, long service life, and noiseless operation.
