Skinner Steam Turbines

A steam turbine is one of the most important pieces of equipment used for energy conversion, which is a major requirement in almost all industries. Steam consists of thermal energy. The steam turbines are responsible for converting this thermal energy into electrical or mechanical energy. MXQ, LLC is one of the providers of Skinner single-stage steam turbines in the USA . These turbines are capable of delivering dependable and rugged performance in your applications, that too at a very little capital investment. The best thing about these steam turbines is that they are capable of delivery consistent performance in most demanding conditions, including extreme cold and hot weather conditions.

Overview

Skinner is one of the leading and the most experienced manufacturers of steam-driven equipment. Since 1868, the company has been building single-stage turbines which have helped them achieve a good reputation from clients worldwide. In the early 1960s, Delaval-based designs and Dean Hill steam turbines were commonly used in most industries. Several developments were introduced in these designs over the years. We provide these state-of-the-art steam turbines at competitive prices and short turnaround times.Skinner has manufactured over 20,000 steam turbines across the world. This equipment has served a number of applications for several years with an outstanding operating performance.Power CapabilitiesThe steam turbines that we provide have the following power capabilities:

Models

We provide the S-series models of steam turbines. These models feature sleeve bearings and conform to the API standards that are applicable. The S-28 is one of the most efficient models from our line with a capability of producing up to 2000 horsepower. In addition to this, it is large in size, which makes it even more efficient. This model is most commonly used for driving fans, compressors, pumps, as well as electric generator sets.Another series of steam turbines that we provide is the SB-series. The turbine models from this series feature ball bearings, and are considered to be a cost-effective solution for most applications. For pump applications demanding up to 400 horsepower, the S-18 and SB-18 are the most suitable models of steam turbines. The SB-18 model is known for its simplicity, making it a preferred choice for low power range. This model comes in a centerline-mounted or foot-mounted configuration. Smaller fans, pumps, compressor drives, and small electric generator sets are some common applications of this series. For mid-range applications demanding up to 900 horsepower, the S-23 and SB-23 are the most suitable turbines models. Compared to the larger machines, these models are more cost-effective, and provide a significant amount of power to the applications demanding low steam pressure.Along with the models mentioned above, we also provide other models of the Skinner single-stage steam turbines, such as:

  • SK-25: This is the largest model available with us, which has the capacity of up to 3000 horsepower. The SK-25 model is most commonly used in the large electric generator sets.
  • SBV-18: The V in SBV-18 stands for vertical. This model is a vertical configuration for the SB-18 model. An innovative greased lubrication system is used in this model.
  • S-11 & SB-11: For the small lubrication pumps that require power up to 50 horsepower and more, the S-11 and SB-11 models are ideal.

Applications

The following are some applications that use Skinner steam turbines that we provide on a large scale:

  1. Electric Generator Drives
  2. Pump Drives
  3. Mill Drives
  4. Fan Drives
  5. Compressor Drives
  6. Blowers
